Title VI Policy

Notice of Nondiscrimination Rights and Protections to Beneficiaries
Federal “Title VI/Nondiscrimination” Protections

GAAMHA, Inc. operates its programs, services, and activities in compliance with federal nondiscrimination laws including Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (Title VI), the Civil Rights Restoration Act of 1987, and related statutes and regulations. Title VI prohibits discrimination in federally assisted programs and requires that no person in the United States of America shall, on the grounds of race, color, or national origin (including limited English proficiency), be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be otherwise subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving federal assistance. Related federal nondiscrimination laws administrated by the Federal Highway Administration, the Federal Transit Administration, or both prohibit discrimination on the basis of age, sex, and disability. These protected categories are contemplated within GAAMHA’s Title VI Programs consistent with federal interpretation and administration. Additionally, GAAMHA, Inc. provides meaningful access to its programs, services, and activities to individuals with limited English proficiency, in compliance with US Department of Transportation policy and guidance on federal Executive Order 13166.

ADA Policy Statement

It is the policy of GAAMHA, Inc to comply with all the legal requirements of federal and state laws and regulations as they pertain to individuals with disabilities. If state laws and federal regulations are contradictory, the federal ADA regulations prevail. The transit system provides quality transportation services without discrimination to all persons including individuals with disabilities. Discrimination on the basis of disability against any person by transit system employees will not be condoned or tolerated.

Goals: Service is provided in a manner that meets the following goals:

  1. Provides safe, accessible, and dignified services to all persons, including individuals with disabilities.

     

  2. Expedites the safe and efficient boarding, securing, transporting, and alighting of all passengers, regardless of mobility status.
  3. Accommodates a wide range of mobility aids within the confines of available vehicles and commercial standard equipment.

Complaint Filing

To file a complaint alleging a violation of Title VI contact the Title VI Specialist (above) within 180 days of the alleged discriminatory conduct.
